Using Astronomy & observational science to Empower teachers and students .
Our Vision - Give every child the opportunity to view the universe through a telescope.
Project First Light is all about bringing the magic of the universe to young learners. We do this by providing schools with robotic personal telescopes that empower children to explore the night sky either from their school or from their own back garden. Our flagship range of telescopes (The Seestar S30) telescopes, driven by an intuitive phone app and AI technology, allow students to easily find and observe celestial objects, sparking curiosity and a love for astronomy. Our vision is a simple one - provide every child with an opportunity to view the universe through a telescope. By providing these opportunities we hope to inspire the next generation of scientists, explorers, and dreamers.
Who’s the project for?
We’re starting Project First Light by partnering with a select group of schools and education establishments, from primary schools, all the way through to universities. 2026 will be our PILOT project year But this is just the beginning! If your school or institute is excited about exploring the universe and wants to get involved in our project, we’d love to hear from you. Just reach out to us to find out more about how your students can join the adventure.
Our Equipment of choice
The Seestar S30 from ZWO is a lightweight, all-in-one smart telescope that’s perfect for schools. With its built-in camera, motorized mount, and intuitive mobile app, students can point, capture, and observe the night sky in minutes—no experience or fiddly setup required. The telescope’s live-stacking, auto-tracking, and AI noise‑reduction features make astrophotography fun, accessible, and engaging.
